Meet at Lockington Village Hall, Chapel Street, Lockington, YO25 9SN. We will then board the 9:50am East Yorkshire 142 bus service to Beverley, arriving at 10:15am. The fare is covered by the current Bus Fare cap, so a single ticket to Beverley is £2 and payment can be made by card or cash.

On arrival at Beverley bus station, we will walk around the corner to Hengate Memorial Gardens (next to St Mary’s Church), Hengate, Beverley HU17 8BL for introductions and to formally start the walk.

Section 3 of the Heritage Way is a flat, 9 miles, linear walk from the town of Beverley to the village of Lockington. We will first pass a number of Georgian buildings before going through, North Bar, built in 1409 and Beverley’s only surviving gate from that era. Our route will then take us through Molescroft, before going over the A1035 and entering open countryside, towards the edge of the old Leconfield Airfield, now the Defence School of Transport. The walk follows the Hull to Bridlington/Scarborough railway line to the right and the Catchwater Drain on the left, towards Arram.

The next section, along the raised banks of a watercourse allows sight of several lakes, attractive to birds and other wildlife. The route then heads west along the lane to Scorborough. After crossing the A164, the path turns north-west to Snowclose Plantation before passing Hall Garth and entering Lockington.

There is no pub or tea room in Lockington. After the walk, there is however the option of going for a drink in one of the villages nearby, details to be confirmed on the day.

Due to the bus company policy of one dog per bus, unfortunately no dogs are allowed on this walk.
