Our walks are organised and led by volunteers and rely on everyone in the group helping the day run smoothly. To make sure our walks are safe, enjoyable and welcoming for everyone, we ask all members attending or leading a walk to follow the expectations below.
- Please come prepared for the walk. You can find what you need on our what to bring page: https://www.gybo.org.uk/kit.php
- Please make sure you have your In case of Emergency Card (ICE) card with you. If you are new then please ask for one.
- Please arrive in plenty of time before the start time of the walk.
- Please follow the walk leaders guidance and instructions at all times on the day.
- You stay with the group until the group has arrived at the walk finishing point.
- If you need to leave the walk at any time (e.g. finishing the walk early), please let the leader or back marker (if there is one) know.
- Our volunteer walk leaders are responsible for the group during the walk. They may have to change plans or adapt the walk to unforeseen circumstances, so it is important that you adhere to their instructions when necessary.
- In addition, they have a responsibility to make sure that everyone is accounted for at the end of the walk, If you are wanting to leave the walk for any reason (including walking ahead or finishing early) please just chat with the leader first.
- Be kind and considerate to all people within the group.
- Finally, our walk leaders are volunteers, please thank them at the end of the walk for their time organising and putting on a walk for the group!
