The walk starts and ends in the picturesque (and very steep!) seaside village of Robin Hood’s Bay, famous for its fossils.  From the meeting point we will start by walking down into Robin Hood’s Bay before picking up the Cleveland Way coast path.  This wends its way through several steep coves near the start of the walk, with lots of ups and downs!

As we get towards Ravenscar, we will also pass through the ruins of the Peak Alum works, before climbing up to Ravenscar itself.  We will stop for lunch in Ravenscar, which will hopefully give us a chance to admire the view back along the coast to Robin Hood’s Bay.  We will then take the Cinder Track, which follows the line of the disused railway between Scarborough and Whitby, to return to Robin Hood’s Bay for some well-earned hot chocolate and cake, or fish and chips for those who are so inclined!

Public toilets are available as we walk down into Robin Hood's Bay, and just over the road from the lunch stop in Ravenscar.

Dogs are welcome on the walk, but may need to be on the lead at times.

Parking arrangements:

Car parking is available at the meeting point (Station Car Park), (£6 all day), an alternative car park is available at the Bank Car Park around 5 minutes walk from the meeting point (also £6 all day).

Public transport:

The X93 bus runs from Scarborough to Robin Hood's Bay leaving Scarborough station at 09:50 and arriving in Robin Hood's Bay at 10:32.  A bus returns at 1555 arriving in Scarborough station 16:38 or there is a 17:00 bus for anyone wanting to stay for some cake or fish and chips after the walk!  See timetable at https://getdown.org.uk/bus/bus/x93-winter.shtml
