Description:
The first section of the Esk Valley walk. We will get the bus to Castleton and walk back to Blakey Ridge. The bus is £4 and takes cash or card. It has a limit of 20 people. If we exceed this, we will need to car shuttle the extra.
Very scenic route through the Esk valley and over surrounding moorland. Paths are generally good.
The walk includes a short steep hill at the start and a small hill at the end. Route is dog friendly but there are a couple of large stiles to get over and fields with livestock so they must be kept on leads.
We will have a packed lunch near the start and will visit the Lion Inn at the end of the walk for a drink. If anyone wants to stay for food, bookings will be taken on Facebook. There maybe extra spaces on the day.
