This walk is the second part of the Tabular Hills Route. This is a linear walk, so we will be meeting at the end of the walk at Cropton, leaving some cars there and driving to the start in Fadmoor. Please be prepared to offer other walkers a lift at the start or end of the walk. Meet at 9.45am for a 10am departure by car to Fadmoor.
Once at Fadmoor, we head out of Fadmoor down Fadmoor Lane to Gillamoor church. We then go downhill through woodland, making our way along bridleway/country paths to Hutton-le-Hole.
Hutton-le-Hole will be approx. 2 1/2 miles into the walk, but we will stop there for an early lunch as it's a great village to stop. We will stop for 45 minutes, where we have the option of having your own lunch on benches / grass verges, popping into one of two cafes, or having a swift drink at the pub. The choice is yours!
We then head up a hill, before zig-zagging our way to Appleton-le-Moors (approx. 6 - 6 1/2 miles in). We won't stop here, but if anyone needs the toilet there is a pub which people can quickly pop into for an emergency stop. We then head back onto Cropton.
The walk is undulating with a few hills (as you'd expect for a hill walk) and may be very muddy in a couple of places (but this is only for a very brief section). Dogs are welcome, but we will pass through farmland at times where there were horses and sheep, so may need to stay on leads at times.
After the walk the plan is to drive to the Kings Head Hotel (a dog friendly pub). Anyone who leaves their car at Fadmoor, I will make sure you get back to your car!
Parking arrangements:
No public transport and plenty on street car parking at Cropton. On street parking in Fadmoor for those offering lifts to the start of the walk.
If staying for refreshments after the walk, we will be driving to Kirbymoorside. The car park next to the pub is £1.70 for an hour, £2.50 for 2 hours.
