This walk does not require pre-booking.
A beautiful walk with stunning scenery, this walk involves some minor scrambling down Trollers Gill and a steep ascent up Simon's Seat but you will be thoroughly rewarded for the effort. We will start by following the Strid along the Dales Way before heading up and over Appletreewick Pasture where we have wonderful views of the dales and will find a place to eat lunch amongst the sheep.
We will then head down the gorge - Trollers Gill - towards the village of Skyreholme. From here it's a steep zig zag ascent up Simon's Seat and a clamber up to the trig point. We will then follow the path back down to Bolton Abbey over Barden Fell, through the Valley of Desolation and passing a waterfall towards the end.
Dogs are not allowed on Barden Fell so unfortunately will not be welcome on this walk.
Parking arrangements:
Parking is £12.50 per car in advance if you book online or £15 on the day. Park in the Riverside car park.
There are toilets and a cafe (Cavendish Pavillion) near the car park - I hope we will arrive back in time for refreshments.
