This walk is part of our weekend trip away in Swaledale. Bookings for the weekend are full but you are welcome to join us for the day. No pre-booking required.
Starting walking at 10.15am, this moderate 12.5 mile walk starts from the beautiful Aysgarth Falls. We will head north out of Aysgarth up via Carperby up onto the ridge, so the first part of this walk involves quite a bit of ascent, steep in parts. The views on top of the ridge are worth it with stunning views of Wensleydale and across to Thornton Rust. We reach the lovely village of Askrigg via Mill Gill waterfall and continue to drop down the valley until we walk alongside the disused railway before picking up the river and following it back to Asygarth Falls. At the end of the walk we will be able to explore the falls, with viewing platforms available for the High, Middle and Low Force falls.
The walk is suitable for dogs but there are lots of sheep so please keep them on a lead.
There are public toilets at the carpark.
Parking arrangements:
The car park (DL8 3SR) requires £4.80 for all day parking.
If you would to car share, create a post on the Facebook event, letting others know where you are travelling from.
