With Government restrictions easing, we have increased the maximum number of places available on this walk to 40 but we still require you to book in advance through Eventbrite.
A gentle walk through farmland and green spaces on the outskirts of York, part of the York Walking Festival.
We start at York University (by the water tower) and skirt through the edge of the campus and through Heslington village. We pick up a public footpath which takes us through farmland and over the A64, past the golf course. We head across Heslington Tilmire, a SSSI nature reserve and an important habitat for ground nesting birds.
We pass through more farmland, before joining a track that takes us back over the A64 towards York. Skirting around the edge of the new Germany Beck housing development, we head to Walmgate Stray, another important wildlife habitat, before heading back up the hill to the car park.
Parking arrangements:
Parking is free in the Campus North Car Park.
