A gentle 6 mile stroll exploring the countryside to the south of York. We start by the University Sport Centre and head south out of Heslington village through open fields. We cross over the A64,walking through the golf course to Heslington Common, which is an SSSI and home to many nesting bird species. We follow a mix of footpaths and tracks, back over the A64 into Fulford, and back into Heslington, with the possibility of seeing rheas and peacocks on the way.
This is a gentle, flat walk perfect for new walkers or those just wanting a gentle stroll with friends.
We will be following all applicable Covid restrictiions, and recommend that walkers bring a face covering and hand gel with them.
The University is accessible by several bus routes, and there a bike racks nearby for those wishing to cycle.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.
You are welcome to attend up to three of our walks before you need to sign up as a member of the Ramblers
