8.5 miles: Leisurely :  Walk Leader: Richard A

This circular walk starts from the car park in Hutton-le-Hole and takes us across the North York Moors, where we hope to catch the heather in its stunning purple bloom.

Along the way we'll visit the mining heritage of Chimney Bank, including the impressive ruins of the old industrial kilns, before stopping for lunch. After lunch, we'll continue to the medieval route marker, Ana Cross, before heading back along a scenic route with panoramic views across the Yorkshire countryside and the surrounding moorland.

The walk follows a mixture of narrow open-access paths and gravel tracks. Before lunch, there is a 0.7-mile section along a narrow, moderately busy road. For safety, we will walk in single file and use the grass verge wherever possible.

Unfortunately due to the use of open access land no dogs are permitted on this walk.

🅿️ Carpark parking, is £6.20 (Card Payment) for all day parking.

🚻 Toilets are available at the carpark. 

🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch.

🚫🐶 NO DOGS. Unfortunately the route uses public access land which doesn't permit dogs. 

🥾 Boots are recommended.

🍺 Option to stop for a drink at the pub at the end or visit one of the many cafes and ice-cream shops.
