The second section of the Centenary Way takes us through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Howardian Hills between the villages of Sheriff Hutton and Welburn. On leaving Sheriff Hutton we head through pastoral farmland towards Terrington (where a loo is available at the village hall) and up through the woods along Slingsby Bank before dropping down to Coneysthorpe and the Castle Howard estate, which leads on to our finish point in Welburn. This is the longest section of the route and although we won't be rushing to get round, a reasonable level of fitness is advised for the undulating terrain.

🐶 Dogs are welcome but will need to be kept on leads as we pass through several farms and fields with livestock.

🥾 Expect the walk to be muddy in places and walking boots are strongly advised. 

🍺 There will be the option to go for a drink and a bite to eat at either the Crown and Cushion in Welburn or the Highwayman in Sheriff Hutton after the walk.

🅿️ There are no suitable public transport options for this section and so we will meet in Welburn and car share to the start of the walk at Church End, Sheriff Hutton. On-street parking is available along the main street in Welburn but please park considerately to local residents.
