Description:

This is a rewarding hike in the Peak District with woodland, open fields, rugged escarpments and stunning views.

We start from the National Trust car park at Longshaw and walk down into Padley Gorge, a stunning woodland with a clear stream running through it. We cross the railway line at Grindleford and head for the open fields, following the river down towards Curbar.

From Curbar it's a steep climb up onto the rugged escarpments of Curbar Edge and Froggatt Edge. Up here we will walk along the ridge, enjoying the rock formations and magnificent views of rolling hills. We finish the walk with a gradual incline over moorland before re-joining the Longshaw estate.

🅿️ Car park at NT Longshaw - £7 pay and display, or free to National Trust members

🚻 There are toilets at the start of the walk

🐶 Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead at all times – we pass fields with livestock, nesting birds and there are also some small sections on roads

🥪 You'll need to bring a packed lunch

🫖🍰🍦At the end of the walk we will stop for refreshments at the National Trust cafe, next to the car park
