This is a 9 mile circular walk. Starting from the village of Newton upon Rawcliffe, we head along the Tabular Hills path with lovely views back over Newton Dale. Continuing on, we take a bridleway through woodland and open farmland towards Newbridge. This is where I've planned our lunch stop, as it's the perfect location for a cheeky little bonus feature! After lunch, we pass through the works of a limestone quarry and a rifle range (you might be reassured to know they meet on Sundays) and head up a short, steep-ish hill into more woodland. We emerge onto open farmland again and follow the final 3 miles back to the village along field paths and tracks.

There is a pub in the village which we might be able to visit for a post walk drink but it seems to have reduced opening hours for winter. If it is closed, we can stop in Pickering and visit a tearoom or pub there before heading home. 

This is a fairly flat walk, along field paths, bridleways and tracks. There is only one, short, uphill section of note. The rest of the route is reasonable terrain but it is muddy and wet in places. Please wear appropriate clothing and boots. 

Dogs are welcome but please be aware this walk crosses farmland, where cattle and sheep were grazing on the recce. Please keep your dog on a leash near livestock.
