Description:

Join us for a lovely autumnal walk from the market town of Kirkbymoorside, nestled on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park.

We start from the Town Farm car park and leave Kirkbymoorside heading west across a mixture of farmland and quiet country lanes to the valley of Kirkdale. At the start of the valley we will take a moment to explore St Gregory's Minster, an Anglo-Saxon church dating from approximately 1055-1065AD.

Leaving St Gregory's Minster, we will cross the dry ford over Hodge Beck onto good tracks and paths that will guide us through the tree lined valleys of Kirkdale and Sleightholme Dale. Note if the stream levels are high due to high rainfall we will do a short diversion retracing our steps back to the road to join the same path.

At Sleightholme Dale Lodge we briefly join onto Sleightholme Dale Road before leaving the valley heading up through woodland along the side of Urn Bank and across fields to the typical moorland village of Fadmoor.

At Fadmoor we join onto the Tabular Hills long distance path and follow it to Gillamoor before returning to Kirkbymoorside by a mixture of good paths & tracks.

Try us out for 3 free walks!

You are welcome to attend up to three of our walks before you need to sign up as a member of the Ramblers
