Join us for this 11 mile walk taking in two wooded valleys to the north of Helmsley. 

From the car park we follow the beck through grassy meadows, gently climbing up along Beck Dale. We then have a short steep climb up and out onto farmland, which has lovely views over the Ryedale valley. After a lunch stop we will then head across to Riccall Dale and climb up to the far side to follow the edge of the woods before dropping back down into the valley filled with meadows and birdlife. At the end of the valley we cross farmland, taking in views of the Helmsley and its iconic castle, ending up at the ice cream parlour by the car park.

This walk is mostly on tracks and good paths, with a couple of short steep climbs/descents.

Dogs are very welcome on this walk but must be kept on a lead due to the presence of livestock and ground nesting birds.

There are toilets at the meeting point.

Please park in the main long stay car park (there is an overflow area at the back too) as on-street parking is limited. This is pay and display (about £6 for all day), takes cash and card.
