Meeting Point: The enterance to Helmsley long stay car park

Public Transport: There is limited public transport to this walk so advertise yourself on gybo's facebook page and cadge a lift to this one!

Parking: There is pay and display parking at Helmsley long stay car park. There is some free on street parking in Helmsley. There is some limited parking at Riveaux if anyone is meeting us there.

Description: Come and join us on our annual Christmas walk to the beautiful ruins of Riveaux Abbey where we will take part in the Christmas Carol Service held by the Bilsland Silver Band in the ruins of the abbey. Wear something festive (but warm!) and bring your best singing voice (or sound like you are murdering cats, no-one minds!) and some mince pies and hot chocolate to share at the interval.

It is advertised as a 6 mile easy walk but please note it is a three mile uphill walk back to Helmsley however we take it at a leisurely pace!

The carol service is held from 1pm until 3.00pm ish

Please note it gets very very cold at the ruins so wrap up warm and please bring a torch for the atmospheric walk back to Helmsley.

There is a charge to get into the Abbey of £8.90 but entry is free to English Heritage Members.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome on the walk and into the ruins but not the cafe or museum.
