Description: This may be a good walk if you are doing the 3 Peaks this year as although it is fairly flat it will test whether you have the stamina to walk a long distance. In October 2009 the small group who did this walk easily achieved the 8 hour target time.
Starting from Grimbald Bridge the walk is along the riverside to Calcutt then up past Gallows Hill to Forest Lane Head. After crossing the Harrogate to Knaresborough road we join the Beryl Burton cycleway then down into the Nidd Gorge area to cross the Nidd. On the North bank of the Nidd we go through fields and minor lanes to Scotton, Brearton, Occaney, Ferrensby, Coneythorpe, Flaxby and then lastly the outskirts of Goldsborough. And back along the Nidd to the Grimbald Bridge.
There will be a minimum pace of 2.5mph for this walk. At this speed the walk will take 8 hours (not including breaks).
If you have another engagement on the day of the walk you may want to consider whether the walk is suitable for you to attend.
You will need to bring your own provisions as it cannot be guaranteed that we will find shops or have the time to stop at them.
