A stunning hike in the Peak District, starting at the Longshaw Estate (National Trust) and visiting the pretty wooded valley of Padley Gorge, wildflower meadows around Hathersage, and culminating with the striking gritstone ridge and outcrops of Stanage Edge and Higger Tor. This is a walk that needs a lot of adjectives!
After the walk, we can head to the nearby Fox House pub for a drink and maybe a bite to eat as well.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but will need to be kept on a lead where we are around livestock or on access land.
There will be some very gentle scrambling – more sort of clambering, really – over a couple of rocky sections.
Toilets available at the start/end of the walk.
Parking arrangements:
Free to National Trust members, or £6 for non-members. (If you're not a member, why not car-share with someone who is!)
Approx 1h20–1h30 drive from York and Hull.
Public transport:
272 bus from Sheffield Interchange at 0950, alight at Fox House
