Weekend trips
As well as day walks throughout the year, we also go further afield on weekend trips several times a year. Usually we stay in hostels, but sometimes we camp instead. Places are usually limited, and we will send an email to everyone on our mailing list when we are organising a trip – if you are interested, please do get in touch with us quickly! You will need to be a member of the Ramblers Association to come on our weekend trips.
Our main trip away every year is over Easter, when we take advantage of the long weekend to go up to Scotland or somewhere else a long way away. For other weekends, we tend not to travel quite as far.
In recent times, our weekends away have included:
- Crianlarich (Easter 2009)
- Newton Stewart (Easter 2008)
- Brecon Beacons
- Coniston
- Dufton, near Appleby
- Robin Hood's Bay
- Scarborough
- Slaidburn
- Ullswater
- …and many more…
Easter 2010: Glen Coe
Andy has booked 2–5 April at the SYHA in Glencoe for the annual Easter trip to the hills. Places are still available, at a cost of £53.25.
The intention is to climb Bidean nam Bian (1150m) on the Saturday and the Pap of Glencoe (742m) on the Sunday. Both of these are challenging walks that will involve a little bit of scrambling and will take you onto high, exposed mountains, so not suitable for novice walkers.
24/25 April 2010: Osmotherley
Sorry, this trip is fully booked, but if you would like to be put on the reserve list, please get in touch with Emma.
We will be walking two stages of the Cleveland Way over the weekend, and staying at Osmotherley Youth Hostel on the Saturday night. Anyone who isn't staying over is still welcome to join us for one or both days walks
