Weekend trips

As well as day walks throughout the year, we also go further afield on weekend trips several times a year. Usually we stay in hostels, but sometimes we camp instead. Places are usually limited, and we will send an email to everyone on our mailing list when we are organising a trip – if you are interested, please do get in touch with us quickly! You will need to be a member of the Ramblers Association to come on our weekend trips.

Our main trip away every year is over Easter, when we take advantage of the long weekend to go up to Scotland or somewhere else a long way away. For other weekends, we tend not to travel quite as far.

25–26 June: Hadrian's Wall

This weekend will take in some of the best bits of Hadrian's Wall, from the base of the Once Brewed youth hostel. On Saturday, we will do a moderate walk of about 11 miles from Chester's Fort past Housesteads to Steel Rigg - exact details still to be finalised. On Sunday, we will do a shorter walk past Walltown Quarry to Winshield Crags, the highest point on the wall. This weekend is only open to members of the Ramblers, and costs £36.80. Please click on the link above for more details, or contact Karen to book your place on the trip.

Easter 2011: Pitlochry

Kelly is organising the Easter 2011 trip to Pitlochry. Final walks are yet to be decided but we wanted to make sure that walkers of all abilities could attend this weekend. With this in mind, Andy and Cath have very kindly offered to lead walks to cater for both the hard-core element and those who prefer a more gentle way of life. This weekend is only open to members of the Ramblers, and costs £54. This weekend is now fully booked.
