This weekend, we will walk some of the best bits of Hadrian's Wall, from the base of the Once Brewed youth hostel. The two nights' accommodation costs £36.80. There are a limited number of places, so please contact Karen to book your place.

Saturday 25 June

Exact details are still to be finalised, depending on what bus services are running this year, but the walk will be about 10–12 miles, starting either from Chester's Fort or Brocolita and head west towards Sewingshield Crags, past Busy Gap and on to Housesteads, where there is the only section of the wall that the public are allowed to walk on. We follow the wall on to Steel Rigg, and then back to the youth hostel. This section of the wall has some of the most complete stonework and visible milecastles and turrets.

Sunday 26 June

A shorter walk of about 6½ miles, heading east past Walltown Quarry towards Great Chesters Fort, home to an intact roman arch and the only remaining roman altar in situ. From there, we head to Caw Gap then on to Winshield Crags, the highest point on the wall, before returning to the hostel.

Catering arrangements

On Saturday night, we will be eating at the Twice Brewed Inn, next door to the hostel.

On Friday night and for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, you can either bring and cook your own food in the hostel or you can buy meals in the hostel - or you could eat at the pub on Friday night as well!
