This is a re-run of the walk that Mark and Tracy led in July, back by popular demand, for all the people who couldn't make the first one.
Meet near the village pond in Brantingham, on Burrill Lane. We will need to make a prompt start at 9am and walk at a reasonable pace so we get back before it gets dark! (Evidence from the July walk suggests that a fast pace is pretty much de rigueur…)
This walk is known as Rudolph's Romp. Starting at Brantingham, the walk traces round the edge of the Wolds to South and North Cave and Hotham, returning over the higher ground of Arras Wold and Newbald Wold. There is a range of terrain, including some steep uphill sections.
Public transport
If you want to use public transport to get to this walk, you must let Mark know so that the group can wait for you, as the bus gets in a few minutes after the scheduled start.
Get a train from York (0730) or Hull (0808) to Brough, then a short walk of 10–15 minutes to Elloughton Road, and get the 143 bus at 0901 towards Beverley, arriving Brantingham at 0908.
Returning home, there is a 155 bus back to Hull at 2150. Apart from that, you can ask for a lift to Brough station for trains back to York and Hull.
