Jonny joined the ranks of walk leaders when he led us on this picturesque walk from Millington, in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. A steep climb took us up to join the Wolds, Minster and Centenary Ways, which we followed along the ridge before dropping down steeply into Sylvan Dale, across a road and back up another long hill to Millington Pastures, where we found a field of heilan' coos. A short section of road walking, and then we turned off to enjoy lunch overlooking the steep sided valley of Deep Dale.

After lunch, we dropped down into the valley and then followed a good track up through woodland to Bishop Wilton Wold, and then a footpath took us to good views over Bishop Wilton and the parkland of Old Wood. We followed the path down into the pretty village, and then picked up the Minster and Centenary Ways over low hills to Great Givendale, and the twelfth century St Ethelburga's Church, surrounded by a carpet of snowdrops. The Minster Way led us back to Millington, where we went to the tea room ... which was full. So we went to the pub ... which was closed. Undeterred, we jumped into cars and headed off for The Plough in Allerthorpe, where we enjoyed drinks and watched Mark eat a whole 3-course dinner (at 4pm) before he headed home to be fed again.
