Setting off from the Lion Inn on a windswept Blakey Ridge, we crossed the heather to join the old railway track, which we then followed around the head of Farndale for 5 miles to Bloworth Crossing, and lunch. We then headed south along Rudland Rigg, and after walking 8 miles on the flat, we turned left and headed down a steep hill into Church Houses, where we caught a glimpse of the famous Farndale daffodils. Then there was just the climb back up to Blakey Ridge - and what a climb! An ascent of 200m in under a mile, and then back to the Lion Inn for a welcome drink.
