Simon organised a weekend trip to Slaidburn, and while we were a bit concerned about spending Hallowe'en so close to Pendle Hill, we were untroubled by evil spirits (we think the smell of Andy's feet kept them away). Although the hostel looked drab and uninspiring from the outside, inside it was absolutely charming, rambling and higgledy-piggledy, well fitted out and with a cosy living room and roaring fire.
On Saturday, we headed up until the hills to the north, with some steep hills, some squelchy bits, and lots of great views. On Sunday, we went for a shorter walk at a lower level alongside the river, and a good time was had by all.
