Section 3 Levisham to Goathland
13 May 2006
10 miles

We started our day at Hogwarts - sorry Goathland station.  We enjoyed our train journey to Levisham entertained by the North York Moors Railway volunteers.  The conductor inspected our tickets and gave the ladies an impromptu tune.  The food trolley came along and the volunteer introduced himself as the trolley dolly complete with silver beard!  We could not resist asking for some chocolate frogs and any flavour beans!

Thirty minutes later we arrived at Levisham and prepared to walk across the sodden moors.  On many occasions we hoped to see the steam trains running in the valley but were thwarted by the damp atmosphere. After the high point at the Two Howes we descended into Goathland.  Some people went to the pub to watch the end of the FA Cup final.  Others went to the bunkhouse where we stayed overnight.  We were intending to have a barbeque however the rain saw the end of this.  Instead countless boots were toasted by a hot fire.
